To assure that these fixtures are as resistant to vandalism as possible, WaterSaver established four performance standards that each fixture must meet. These are:
Each fixture must be serviceable by maintenance personnel, but not be susceptible to disassembly by vandals.
Each fixture must resist bending or breakage through physical abuse.
Each fixture must have means for preventing backflow into the service lines.
Each fixture must utilize the same internal construction as all WaterSaver fixtures, to assure interchangeability of components and superior performance.
All WaterSaver vandal-resistant fixtures meet these four criteria.
The construction features of these fixtures include the following:
Mounting shanks for air and vacuum are 3/8” IPS brass with .135” wall thickness to resist breakage. Mounting shanks for gas are 3/8” IPS heavy wall black iron pipe.
Internal check valve prevents backflow into piping system.
Laboratory ball valve is certified for gas service by CSA International under ANSI Z21.15-1997/CGA 9.1-M97.
Round serrated hose end is nonremovable.
Forged brass valve handle provides extra strength.
Stainless steel locator pins prevent turning faucet on counter.
Impact-resistant nylon index button is secured with cement.
Forged brass faucet handle provides superior strength.
Packing nut is secured with set screw to prevent loosening.
Gooseneck riser is 1/2” IPS brass pipe with .125” wall thickness to resist bending and breakage.
Vacuum breaker prevents backflow into potable water system.
Vandal-resistant brass bonnet and vandal-resistant screws on
vacuum breaker cover.
Round serrated hose end is secured in place with set screw. Hose end is resistant to vandalism, but can be removed by maintenance personnel for cleaning and replacement.
